Is anyone else looking forward to 2021? I’m sure I’m not the only one ready and waiting for the new year to arrive.
We all know the challenges that 2020 brought: the COVID-19 virus kept us in our homes, grounded our flights, canceled our big events, closed our favorite restaurants, and kept us apart from friends and family for too long.
But we also know the surprising silver linings that came with it: getting out of our daily routines gave us a chance to slow down, connect with loved ones in new ways, and revisit old hobbies like gardening, cooking, and more.
With more experience and better treatments on the horizon, I believe there is so much to look forward to and a lot to be grateful for.

Reuniting with Friends and Family
Staying at arm’s length from our loved ones was one of the most challenging parts of 2020—and reuniting in our favorite places will be one of the best parts of 2021. I can’t wait to celebrate my friends’ birthdays and my family’s favorite holidays around big tables full of food, drinks, and smiling faces.
Phone calls and Zoom sessions reminded us that we can support and love the people close to us, even when they can’t be close by. But I can’t wait to get back to hugging, shaking hands, and sharing a meal together under the same roof—once it’s safe to do so!
Visiting New Places
Traveling to new places is a great way to try new things and get some inspiration, but with so many landmarks closed and flights canceled, 2020 was light on travel for most of us. I’m looking forward to planning some vacations and road trips, and enjoying some new sights (both on my own and living vicariously through friends and family!).
There are so many great places to visit, whether you’re able to travel far or you’re looking for inspiration in your own backyard. I love taking photos nearby in Austin, at the edge of the ocean, and abroad.
The Return of Our Favorite Events
The 2020 calendar was full of postponements and cancelations, which might make the next few years even more eventful!
Assuming all goes well, we can expect the return of some of the greatest events in the world: Broadways shows, the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, a jam-packed Super Bowl, Eurovision, blockbuster movie releases (in theaters this time), and so much more. No matter your favorite brand of entertainment, odds are that your favorite stars are ready to get back to that spotlight, and your fellow fans will be there cheering them on.
Wishing You All Hope, Endurance, and Good Health
No matter what 2021 brings, I hope you all find something to be hopeful for. Whether it’s seeing a good friend or showing off something you learned this year, I wish you comfort, good health, and the strength to make it through everything that lies ahead.
Enjoy the new year, and keep an eye on my shop to see new work on its way!
